I’VE GOTTA’ GET MY FREEDOM BACK, BECOMES GLOBAL ANTHEM

As the country celebrates its independence, recording Artist MICHAEL-JOHN drops an awesome single titled “I’ve Gotta’ Get My Freedom Back” in the spirit of hope and total freedom for all. This latest hit track is now available on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-HrP8IQiRQ and on all other digital platforms. Where words won’t suffice to express the anger and frustration of affected communities, songs give it a language.

This year, the liberty of people in minority and underrepresented groups could be seriously threatened. Over the last few months, there has been an escalation in divisive dialogue full of hate, with xenophobic, racist, and misogynistic comments and acts making headlines almost daily. Instead of seeing progress, the world only seems increasingly intolerant and turbulent, with majority groups fearing and violently rejecting people who are “other.”

Michael-John’s career as a composer, producer, and recording artist has earned him two top 100 billboard hits. As the lead vocalist for several rock bands, he has been seen and heard by over 30 million people on television and radio. His latest hit single, I’ve Gotta’ Get My Freedom Back, released on July 4th, 2020, is taking the nation by storm! It has been the number #1 single on MTV-USA for 4 weeks straight! Michael-John was just awarded “Artist of the Month” on MTV-USA and mtvrock.com. Michael-John’s debut album titled, “Phenomenon” will be released later this year.

This fight is always best represented by the artists of our time. Throughout history, one thing remains constant: anthems (aka songs about equality and freedom). When the going gets tough, the artists get to work. Musicians take the stress and strife we feel and channel it into songs about diversity and songs about equal rights. This is how to begin the fight against divisive language and hate—with music that inspires all – ‘I’ve Gotta’ Get My Freedom Back’.

The world is faced with an unprecedented marker in time, dealing with sheltering-in-place, desperate to be free again, and venturing out with friends to attend outdoor events or just hang-out having fun. This rock anthem sticks in your mind; transporting you to another place …It’s time to get our freedom back!

When did you discover your love for your craft and what made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in it?

I discovered my love for music at 3 years old when I began memorizing songs off of records and singing them before my friends and family. My dad gave me piano lessons so I could learn the craft of music and writing songs. When I was watching television I realized that I wanted to be singing hit songs, like the rock stars I would see singing in videos and playing live concerts. I studied at first to be a concert pianist, and then Billy Joel, Elton John, and many other piano player singers got my attention and I began writing songs.

To what or whom do you accredit your sense of style?

The many singer-songwriters such as John Lennon, Elton John, Billy Joel, Queen, The Cars, The Eagles, Foreigner, and Def Leppard.

On your current project, how did you come up with the concept?

My new album is titled: PHENOMENON.

I got the title from the theme song I wrote with the same title: PHENOMENON. The song is about a miraculous experience that I guy has that his friends don’t believe could have happened.

What are some of your greatest challenges, and what is your greatest attribute when it comes to your work ethic?

Some of my greatest challenges include writing my first book that covers my life in rock music and the entertainment business and my spiritual transformation on an extraordinary journey.

One of my greatest attributes is my God-given gift to write songs that people remember and that have given me a couple of Billboard hit songs. My work ethic has been good because my father was very disciplined and taught me that as well. I can work 8-10 hours straight without stopping at times.

Are you the best at what you do in your opinion?

I think considering yourself the best at what you do, is kind of conceded. I like to think that I am extremely gifted by God and give Him all the glory! Everyone likes something a little different, so being the best is very subjective. I don’t think I can think of any one artist that I think is the best over all others, though I do have my favorites.

What are your plans for the near future?

My plans this year are to release my new book, about my life in the entertainment business and the transformation that took place during my fast ride. And also to release my upcoming album, Phenomenon.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank, any shout outs?

Yes, I would like to thank Almighty GOD and my parents, who all had an incredible influence on me.

How can fans find you?

Yeah, you can find me at my website: michael-johnmusic.com

What suggestions do you have for other artist like yourself?

Advise to other artists…never give up in yourself, because you’re an original and that is what makes you– signature and special.

Also, make sure you do music videos as people love to watch when they listen to music…it makes it come alive for them. Also, learn how to produce music and write songs….it will give you a lot more control of your final product and its excellence
